Mother's day

Been there for a week since Mother's Day and still doing well. (Header the Rokin seen from an unusual vantage point.)

In the middle of a little field

Stood what earlier was called a black tulip. How it got there is a complete mystery to me since there was no other tulip anywhere in the area (no garden), but someone must have put the bulb in the ground. You don't see these that often.

One more then

It's still fun that bike decorating with flowers.

The bee ribbon is doing well.

 Now for the bees.

These are very difficult to find.

woensdag 24 juli 2024

Like the roadside yesterday.

The plants along the canal in our village are also doing very well this year. Not too cold, lots of moisture and maybe also lots of CO² they are doing very well.

Museum visit

Saw this photo in my archives (from a visit to Foam) and ran it through Lightroom's latest trick. Well that works pretty well. ( Header on Sunday a flower does look nice on the kitchen table.)

Former Floriade terrain

And suddenly the facade of the Aeres agricultural college is in bloom. That was not the case during last year's floriade. Yes nature always needs time.

donderdag 25 mei 2023

Still a bit of the Floriade left.

 An onion field in bloom.

Floriade 2

From the cable car you have a nice view of the grounds.

Dutch flower growers again showed some strong samples.

This sign may go back into the trash.Too bad the Floriade has to stop again just at its peak.

We are not the only ones who enjoy the Floriade

This cuddly bumblebee is not to be missed either. One for Saturday Critters here.

This can also happen to you.

Wake up, the sunflower's gone in front of your window. The owner still wonders on the sign where it has gone and shows how it was there before. One for signs2 here.

Seen in Almere

Behind this sign (called dyeing plants field) there are plants that provide colours for dyeing fabrics.
Luckily there are also signs that indicate the colour of each plant. (not here)
In front of it there is a row of poles with the colours that the plants behind them produce but the wool sheaths at the top have lost their colour since the 2 years they've been in wind and weather. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Flowers

As a result of the crisis, flower growers can no longer export their flowers., but we still like to look at them while 80% will be destroyed.

Near Dingle Ireland

A backroad near Dingle Ireland when we were at holiday july 2014. One for Sami's Colourfulworld here.

You have to be quick

On 15 minutes cycling from our home you can find this tulip fields but due to cold weather they were covered with a frost protecting cover until 2 days ago.
When we were looking this morning Pink Innovation made already short work of the tulips.
For the lovers of the bulb fields a pity but its business as usual. Bulbs come before the pretty sight of the fields.

In a land so full of tulips

They can not be missed on the kitchen table

dinsdag 24 april 2018

It is that time of the year again

The tulip fields in the N-O polder are in full blossom

We have only 2 weeks then the farmers remove the flowers on top to let all the food going into  making of bulbs underground because they are growing tulip bulbs for export and not the flowers.
One for Our World Tuesday here.

Tulip fields are advancing

Where once cows were grazing from a milk and cheese farm now stands tulip fields on just a 4 km walk from our house.
Its a first in our part of the polder and perhaps a sign that you as farmer can earn more with tulips then with cows. Still am not sure what I like more. Cows in the meadow or tulips in the fields. One for Signs, Signs here.
