Street view

After passing the bridge on the header, you enter Amstelstraat. Here in the evening after a rainstorm.  Always love how that sheen of water makes the city more beautiful.

Signs of protest

Residents of the Esch in Rotterdam are protesting because exactly where there is now a piece of nature reserve the Municipality wants to build a bridge over the Nieuwe Maas to relieve the adjacent Brienenoord bridge. Add up all those little pieces and you have nothing left at all.

What you don't want to encounter on the way home.

Yesterday around four o'clock. That will be at least another fifteen minute wait. Wonder if there are more countries where highway bridges are made to open during rush hour.

Five years past on the Keizersgracht

Just have too many of these photos about Amsterdam.

There is still a lot to do.

With bridges collapsing and quay walls threatening to collapse. For Amsterdam, this means years of poor accessibility and disruption of traffic in the city centre and beyond. Not to mention the cost.

Rotterdam rooftop days

Yesterday and today you could stand on the rooftops of a lot of buildings who are normally closed for the public.
It gives you a fabulous view over Rotterdam if you are not afraid over a bit of high.
A pity that the weather was not really cooperative and that you sometimes had a bit to many stair steps but in all a very nice experience.

Signs

Found this on a wooden bridge in the center of town. What it exactly means I don't know but it looks like something of a digital game. One for Signs, Signs here.

Art fence

Bridge nr. 165 also called the "Raampoort" bridge in Amsterdam contains this fence, looking more like an artwork. Until now I couldn't find the name of the designer of this fence. One for good fences here.

Bridge fence.

A bridge fence from bric, concrete and iron. A lot of materials. In the background the Montelbaans tower from 1516. This tower never had a church but was part of the defense works around amsterdam and got its white upper part with clock in 1606 designed by city architect Hendrik de Keyzer . One for Good Fences here.

New

In a new, newly completed district in Almere, this crossover came into use. I wonder who uses it.
