Holiday in Norway 2013

The large hall of the town hall in Oslo Norway with the murals of Henrik Sorensens. Made between 1938 and 1950 the large one against the back wall is called "Administration and Feast". Furthermore many images from Norwegian history and Legends. In this room, the Nobel Peace Prize is always awarded on 10 December. It is the only Nobel Prize that is awarded outside Sweden. This is the sign that we reached the North Cape the uttermost north point of Norway in 2011. The point were the sun doesn't go under in summer.

On our way to the North Cape in Norway we stayed in hotel Gildetun on the mountain Kvaenang and saw this sign.  Still 370 km to go. One for Signs2 here.

Tromsø Bridge

From the Fjellheisen mountain you have a fantastic view over the city of Tromsø and the Tromsø Bridge connecting the city with the mainland. On holiday in 2011 we saw this stunning view.

Realistic statue

This realistic statue from Arne Mæland in the centre of Bergen Norway wasn't realistic enough for the passing public so they did some adjustments to make it a bit more real.

Ålesund

From the mountain Fjellstua you have this splendid view of Ålesund. The city consist of several islands  linked by bridges. From 1200 it was the central marketplace in the region Sunnmøre Norway.

Gudbrandsjuvet

Along and sometimes crossing the river Valldøla walks this fantastic footpath made by architects Jensen and Skodvin.

Here a view of the stunning landscape and river that you see.

It meanders very nice along al the bends the river has.

A real niece piece of engineering

Entrance

If it was not enough to make more then 200 statues Vigeland also made the architectural design and the wrought iron gates and fences for his collection of statues in Oslo. If you want to see more fences you can go to friday fences here.

Edward Munch

On the spot were the famous norwegian painter Edward Munch made his portrait of the scream  you find this fence of gas pipe fittings. On the painting you see a fence also. If it is the same I don't know.

As a memento the norwegian gouvernement placed a bronze plaquette of the Skrik as the scream is called in norwegian. All this in the neighbor of Oslo.

View point

The Puddefjord Bridge in Bergen Norway seen from the top of the FlØyen. The 340 m difference in high you can do walking or with a cable car the so called FlØybanen. It gives a splendid view of Bergen and surroundings. One for Sunday bridges here.
