 There was no getting through.

Once started as a celebration for and by children.

Is it too crowded for dogs now, too.

But it remains cozy.

Yesterday Kingsday,the birthday of our king. Normally a big party but thanks to covid-19 everything was cancelled.

Fortunately, some were still dressed in festive Orange. Better next year.

Opening new theater season 19/20

Accompanied by members of the concert hall, Sabrina Stark performs a beautiful jazz song as a foretaste of the new theatre season 2019/2020. 

It was so hot that many visitors cooled down in the museum pond of the state museum.

The ice-cream beetle was doing good business but we stopped it and went back home quickly.

Kingsday

Went this morning to our village centre to look at the festivities for the birthday of our King Willem Alexander who celebrate his 51 birthday. Everybody tries to sell their attic stuff to somebody else but for the kids its a real paradise.

She earned a lot of money.

It was also a matter of keeping an eye on the sky for downpours that could damage the merchandise. Lucky for us that didn't happen. One for Skywatch Friday here.

Kings Day

Today our King Willem Alexander becomes 50.

The party started yesterday evening with the whole of the Netherlands one big car booth sale.

When I was leaving at 9 PM there were people to occupy their place through the night to have today the best spot but the temperature was never so low in April. Around 2° C. Will leave soon to see if they have survived.

Some shots of the free market on kings day yesterday in almere. And yes the key word is orange.

Its always great for children and for their parents.

The weather forecast was terrible but lucky wrong.

Sinterklaas

Sinterklaas is since a week in the country again. This year he has a bodyguard because there is trouble over his assistants who are since it is celebrated moorish servants. Its not from this time any more to show slaves as assistants . In reality it weren't slaves at all but that doesn't matter. The point is made and this children's party is now corrupted by picket lines and interruptions. 

There are still a lot of children waiting for sinterklaas and his assistants.

And after he passed you still see the silent witnesses on the ground. One of the reasons the children likes him because his assistants throws the candy hands full in the public.

We have now a so called harbor festival in our village with a lot to do. For the kids there are all kind of balance instruments which are a great succes and circus acts. For the older people there are concerts, special tasting eateries from nearby restaurants and a big art and brocante market.
