Harbour Festival Almere

This weekend we have our yearly harbour festival with including a botter race on the Gooimeer and a large brocante which we will check out this afternoon.

If you want, you can sail along for an hour and outside the harbour the sails will be set. We have done this in the past but this year we will skip it. The presence of so many old wooden fishing vessels is always a beautiful sight and they were around 1880 a 1900 with 3000 ships the most important fishing vessel on the Zuiderzee now called IJsselmeer. Photographic invitation.

I was invited for the Olympus playground. A happening where you can test the newest Olympus photographic products. It was in a part of town I was not familiar with and it took me a while to find it.
The surroundings were real spectacular. All old harbor buildings not in use anymore.
It was on the opposite of this famous amsterdam cafe Roest.
with also very hip customers.
After that the display of the photographic decors was a bit a disappointment.

On the waterfront

The only thing I can say is that green doesn't reflect here. For more weekend reflections go to the weekend reflections site from James.

Fishing boats

In the old fishing town of Harderwijk someone came on the great idea to let the manhole covers of the rainwater drainage resemble old fishing boats. A clear sign that you are in a port town. Once seen one you see them everywhere really. Kudos to the designer. One for sign, signs here.
Here some boats who were model of the manhole cover above in the harbor of Harderwijk. Yes still a lot exist but fishing is now not done anymore from this harbor let alone with this type of boat other then sitting on the dock with a fishing rod.
