Part of the concrete forest

What it takes in Almere to build a six-storey flat with 32 appartments. The piles are on average 10 to 12m long and have a head size of 45 x 45 cm or 50 x 50 cm. In earlier days this used to be done with wooden piles but if these are not submerged in ground water, they rot and a lot of houses now suffer from this and there is no cheap solution.

  1. At first glance I thought your photo was a cemetery, but no, a unique view of a building foundation. Those pillars should hold up the building.

  2. That is so amazing. There must be so much noise drilling the holes for these.

  3. Looks like those blocks will do a great job for the foundation.

  5. That is quite interesting. Thank you all. The big hotels in Waikiki have some pumps to keep the groundwater out also
