It was that time of year again: the Photographica trade show. I had firmly resolved not to buy anything else, but then I spotted a brand-new, vintage Canon D5—still in its original box with all the contents wrapped in plastic—for 140 euros. I started taking photography seriously with this camera in 2007, followed by the 5D Mark II in 2012. Both cameras are long gone now, but I still have the accompanying L lenses, and looking back, I actually liked the 5D a lot better than the Mark II. The culprit.
