Molen de Gooyer has been a corn mill since the 16th century and has stood at various locations in the city. In 1841, it ended up at this location on Funenkade.
That's such a beautiful and historic windmill. It's amazing that it's been around since the 16th century and has moved to different locations. It feels like a real part of the city's story.
I've just published a new post on my blog, www.melodyjacob.com, if you have a moment to check it out.
The culture of Holland has always used renewable energy. It seems windmills are the very symbol of the country. Hard to believe this corn mill is that old, and still functioning.
