The repairs to the quay along the "Groenburgwal" are not progressing as quickly as hoped. However, reinforcement cages have been placed around some of the supports so that vegetation can grow over the canal. (Probably because local residents are tired of seeing those rusty pipes in front of their doors.)
Good initiative!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAs a former pipeline engineer I find this very interesting.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDelays seem the way of everything.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenConstruction always seems to take longer than expected.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThose pipe supports do look temporary, and the do limit access to the rest of the canal. A boat on the wrong side of those pipes is stuck there with no escape.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenare the pipes something to do with bracing across between the two walls? i presume they're not piping anything inside them?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou are right of course.
Verwijderenfantastic - i quite like them but the idea of "greening" them with something growing across is wonderful - i bet they will look great when colonised
VerwijderenInteresting photo of the work being done on the canal.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTake care, enjoy your day!
I guess it's normal to expect delays. Nice photo of the progress of the project.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat looks like a huge job to do
BeantwoordenVerwijderen...the rusty pipes block the canal, strange to see.
