Founded in 1882 and gone again in 1936, a depot of Ferwerda & Tieman wine buyers was indeed located here. It was one of the first firms in our country to use advertising in dailies and illustrated weeklies of the time. The mural from around 1910 has recently been reinstalled although to my knowledge the firm no longer exists but it certainly forms a non-detonating image in this row of facades. One for Tom's signs2 here.
Here we call them ghost signs.
BeantwoordenVerwijderen...I love the streetscape!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInteresting. Typical urban sight.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInteresting that the mural has been recovered. Nice sign SC
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt is nice that they have restored the old sign.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful old sign. Someone liked it enough to restore it. Advertising still works, so someone should open a wine shop using this name.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA nice reminder of the past. They did a great restoring job on the sign.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenExcellent sign from another era
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSome very traditional architecture there
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMe gusta la arquitectura, de esos edificios antiguos, de hace ya mucho tiempo.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice way with history.
