On the facades of Raam 28 and 32 two neo-Renaissance style tile tableaus to the once on this street Plateelfactory Zuid-Holland (Plazuid). They were designed by Daniel Harkink (1862-1953), draughtsman and plate painter at Plazuid, and made after the factory fire in 1918. One tableau represents a pot with eternal flame, with the year 1918; the second shows a potter at his turntable. They used to decorate the facade of the now defunct Plazuid, in 2013 they were reinstated in the wall of the Koningshof. (Text taken from www.diegoude.nl about the history of Gouda.)
One for Sami's Colourful World here.
A classical period of art examples. It is amazing that they have preserved this long.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenThanks for participating in Monday Murals SC.
They are wonderful!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThose are beautiful ceramic tile murals, truly a high point in potters' art. The year 1918 was the end of WW I (on Nov. 11), and was also a terrible pandemic year.
