This copy of a 13th century castle from Belgium was a plan by an alderman in 1999 to put Almere on the map. Construction started in 2000 with a budget of 27 million euro later increased to 55 million euro. Because of the financial problems the construction was stopped in 2002 and it still looks that way today. Several attempts have been made to revive the castle but to date it has still failed. One for Skywatch Friday here.
Echt? Dat heb ik helemaal gemist. Wat idioot, een Belgisch kasteel om Almere op de kaart te zetten?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a lot euros. I wonder if the alderman ever got reelected.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOuch!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHello,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt is a shame they ran out of money, it would be a beautiful castle.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
That is amazing. What a story!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenPretty shot, but sad that it remains unfinished. It appears to have so much potential!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI hope they do finish it otherwise if is such a lot of wasted money. Your header shot is incredible s.c. would make a beautiful postcard or painting 💙
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTruly a stunning building. Great photo as well. I hope they get to finish it. It's sad that because of financial reasons it's not being finished.

Very nice photo and a great story.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat we plan and what happens are two different things, anyhow a beautiful picture and a story came out after spending few millions by someone else. . . :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA very expensive mistake.
