It had to be Almere's pride.

This copy of a 13th century castle from Belgium was a plan by an alderman in 1999 to put Almere on the map. Construction started in 2000 with a budget of 27 million euro later increased to 55 million euro. Because of the financial problems the construction was stopped in 2002 and it still looks that way today. Several attempts have been made to revive the castle but to date it has still failed. One for Skywatch Friday here.

  1. Echt? Dat heb ik helemaal gemist. Wat idioot, een Belgisch kasteel om Almere op de kaart te zetten?
