New developments.

Walking along the borders of Amsterdam I encountered this new bicycle bridge. The Nescio bridge connecting IJburg, a new developed town part on its own man made islands with the old land near Diemen. With it length of 780 m it is the longest bicycle and pedestrian bridge in the Netherlands. ( Nr 2013 on the list of amsterdam bridges).

During making (picture by luchtfotografie) around 2006.

Walking a little further you see this old dike house and that on just a stone throw away of the busy part of Amsterdam.

  1. This looks like a fine bridge to explore on foot or bike!

Speaking of bridges, Sunday Bridges will open at 22h00m Saturday evening, central Europe time.
«Louis» hopes you will link this bridge to the meme.

  2. Wow! That's quite the bridge. Your underneath shot makes it look so squiggly.

  3. Mooi standpunt bij de eerste foto, het maakt het bijna 3D.

  4. How wonderful to see a bridge designed specifically for foot and bike traffic! We have a few pedestrian bridges here (one of which I share in my Sunday Bridges post today) but nothing so spectacular in form!

  5. Didn't know about this bridge. Goes to show you how important cyclists are in Holland!
