Not a glamorous one but just one of the workhorses around town. Still going strong after being build in 1928 and replacing an older one. (Bridge 281 of the list of numbered amsterdam bridges which you can find here)

i love urban bridges captures
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI'm still wondering what the impetus was for these "half-bridges"--limited space? Relatively narrow canals?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenCompared to some lift bridges «Louis» has seen, this is a simple design. Sometimes simple is best as witnessed by the longevity of this bridge. «Louis» appreciates your frequent contributions to Sunday Bridges.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI am impressed at its longevity!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAnother great site for a visitor to see in Amsterdam. So old yet still in fine working order. Nice capture of real life in your city. genie
BeantwoordenVerwijderenvery interesting shot... by the way is it a lift bridge as well?...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt has a hinge at one side and goes up on the other. So open it stands on nearly 90º on the road. No other tricks I am afraid.
