Here you see the old "Hef". A railway bridge over the Kings harbour in rotterdam out of duty but in use till 1993. Now the trains have a tunnel under the water and the bridge is a monument. When the bridge was build in 1878 the mid part was a turning bridge on a column but that gave so much trouble and accidents with the passing ships that in 1927 this construction replaced the old one.
I dedicate this one to sunday bridges here.
By the way I photographed this bridge from the balcony of my niece at a distance of 3000 mtr. with an old canon fd mirror tele 500mm f.8 on a 4/3 panasonic gf2 making it a 1000mm tele.
I'm amazed at how long these bridges have lasted. Yet we have many bridges on the highways that are not withstanding the test of time.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love that has been left standing as a monument.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a special monument.Thank you for sharing, s.c.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery interesting. Thank you for your comments on my blog.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne very well know picture
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like it, s.c. Soft light and colors give this a nice atmosphere. I don't know if telephotos have fallen out of favor recently, but I like the look here.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenlooks like it's from a different era
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA great monument indeed, does look like it holds the past in it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a fine structure and your camera etc. amazes me. I don't even understand!
