One of the most famous coffee shops in amsterdam. Not for their coffee but for the joints you can get there. They where one of the first when the authorities still didn't know the difference between chinese 5 spice powder and cannabis. It has a great attraction to younger tourists from abroad .
I dedicate this one to monday mural that you can find here.
Amazing colour and detail in the mural.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSo, cannabis is legal in your country?
That is one busy mural. i wonder how it looks after a bit of inhalation...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHay Andy.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes and no. Officially cannabis is on the list of forbidden stuff but as long as it gives no trouble the authorities are looking at the other way. But in the border districts along Belgium and Germany it gives some trouble with the youth from that countries ( only by account of the authorities ) and there you need a pass to enter a coffee shop only available for dutch residents. Now thats really giving trouble. This law is just introduced this year by the right wing party's in parliament and is heavy discussed. Since government fell a month ago it is possible that the next government turn this back.
Interesting color usage in this mural...almost looks like the artists were under the influence as they painted. Very busy!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI bet there are some cool stories behind some of those bright images on this shop mural. Don't tell anyone (ssshhhh LOL!), but this is the kind of shop I enjoy walking past... and breath deeply through the nose... the smell is so yummy! I expect to come across this fragrance in Amsterdam, but not so here in China where the penalties are very stiff. I was almost bowled over yesterday when near the market this fragrance hit me coming from three teenaged boys on a small CC motorbike passing me! This has nothing to do with your mural, of course... LOL!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat colors! Wonderful mural. Thanks for the info s.c.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFabulous, love the colors, and the lack of any theme, except for possibly dogs. Great capture.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful mural. I would love to visit that little coffee shop, lol.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne of the famous coffee shops! What a bright cheerful mural!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFun, fun, fun looking with serious topic. Thank you for sharing, s.c.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLots of bulldogs in this mural. Is that the name of the coffee shop? I look at the mural and immediately find myself in the 70s. Kind of psychedelic, don't you think. On a recent trip to Amsterdam, I quickly learned not to ask for directions to a coffee house, which has a more prosaic meaning at home. And always knew when we were passing one. Thanks for the trip back in time and the trippy mural. And thanks for participating in Monday Mural.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFantastic color and your explanation of the attraction explains a lot.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDarryl and Ruth :)
