Art nouveau gate

This is one of the very few art nouveau gates we have in the Netherlands. The entrance to the villa Rams Woerthe in Steenwijk. The villa is now a museum of the sculptor Hildo Krop.
One for friday fences here.

  4. That's an outstanding ornate fence with an equally outstanding gate. I wonder why they chose to paint it green.

  10. Art Nouveau is one of my favourite artistic styles, although rarely seen now. (apart from the French Metro of course). I love the way that it borrows so much from nature, in shape and form. One of your reader's comments asked 'why it was painted green'. I think that must be obvious... the railings resemble plant life and nature.

Thanks for this post. The best art nouveau railings I have ever seen.
