How cars are a problem.

When I visit my family in Gouda I never want to park my car here along the canal for obvious reasons. But it becomes a real problem in the little towns in the netherlands because everybody want his car before his front door and there is just not space enough. Still I am glad that this canal is still a canal and not a road as is the case on a lot of other places. On for our world tuesday here.

  1. Great shot! Beautiful street/canal, even with the cars. I wonder how many times per year a car has to be hauled out of the canal, though...

    1. I was wondering myself and last year an average of 800 cars hit the water where eventually 60 people are deceased over the whole of the netherlands Micheal. (This all from an newspaper excerpt).

  3. It would be a shame to see the canals replaced with roads. The waterways make this scene so Netherlandish!

  5. A bit inconvenient if you have parked your car on the opposite side from where you live. No simple matter of crossing the street.

  6. How do they get the cars out of there? With a little freighter boat or something similar?

  10. It's amazing how cars can accommodate to be there. And how they can come out. I really hope that no one came up to cover for the cars.

  11. I cannot imaging how they get in and out. We do not have such concerns here in the land of the automobile.
