Bridge

Still in Gouda. An cast iron turn bridge from 1867 made by ironworks "The Prince of Orange "in the Hague seen from the "lage Gouwe".  Funny thing, it doesn't connect a main street on both sides but of course is an obstacle for shipping traffic .

  1. Wonderful... one hundred and forty nine years of swing.

  3. In the 19th Century the iron bridges were often built like wooden bridges, but with iron pieces. The shipping along the canal will just have to be long and low.

  5. Seems like it should be able to swing open.
