Safety nets in the sky

Looking up from the car window on the highway I saw these nets. Above them is an overhaul of the high voltage power lines and this is a safety measure to prevent that something is hitting you on the head. Never saw this before. One for skywatch friday here.

  1. That's pretty cool, certainly never seen anything like it here in the US either.

  2. Very unusual nets. I wonder how effective they are. Great photo.

  3. I'll be darned -- if I understood correctly, the netting stretches across the road; but, what is it protecting you against? Like, what is supposed to fall on your head? In any event, thanks for the unusual posting.

    1. Hi Stanley.
I am not sure but it must be tools, part of cables or lines or incidental a worker. ( Hope not)

  4. High voltage power lines might fall on your head?? I wouldn't trust a net to stop that! Great visual of a dangerous area.

  5. I saw something like this when they were re-stringing the power lines over a major desert highway. Really interesting process!
