Rebuilding the university

This year the university of amsterdam started with radical reconstructions. I hope they are capable to make the view from this point better.

Here two labs of the same complex . The red one left is the Pieter Zeeman lab who in 1902 together with Lorentz the Nobel price for science got. For economical purpose the buildings are sold and now rebuild for apartments.

  1. That's a massive reconstruction underway. The building in the second are delightful.
Do you have problems with damp and moulds in buildings with so much water around?

  2. Hoi PoS.
We have so much experience with more water than soil as a fundament layer that that problem in theory is solved a long time ago. The only thing money to keep it that way. That's the weak part because the old fundaments where of wood and stone and when the water level changes a bit the wood start to rot directly. Today everything in that department is of concrete so no more problems there. Its even pre scripted in the building regulations of the government.
