Yesterday I took a veteran with me. A nikon d700 with, according to many, one of the worst lenses ever of nikon.The 24-120 zoom. Well, that's not so bad, although nature helps out a bit as well.

Sign of changing times

Subtropical plants in a flowerbed in public space. And that in the Netherlands. There is clearly no longer any expectation of harsh winters. For me a first. One for Signs2 here.

Last Friday in Amsterdam

A lot of trees were blown over by some kind of fall wind...

Yesterday taking the damage I saw that the municipality had already been busy cleaning up the damage.

The strange thing was that it was very local and especially in the city centre.

Some of the trees were 120 years old.

Living monuments

Its so nice to follow the canal the "oude gracht" in Utrecht on two levels. 

The start of digging the canal was in 1122 and the housing and cellars date from the 16 and 17 century. So are the trees on the quay also very old and that you can see.  The total length is 2 km.

Tree collectors.

The neighbor kids are busy collecting discarded Christmas trees. For every tree they return they receive 50 cents from the city council. Has now made their mother objected because she can't enter her home anymore and all trees are equally banished to the garden which is a whole lot bigger. One for Our World Tuesday here.

Big spring cleaning

The municipality of Almere has started its spring cleaning in our neighborhood.

That definitive looks much better.
