This mural is a copy of "portrait of a couple" by Frans Hals (1662) now made by urban artist Thermobiel. It is part of an old masters by new masters project conceived and paid by the ING bank as sponsors of the rijksmuseum making a connection between the old masters and street art. I am not sure what the connection is and think that the old masters will be spinning in their grave. You can also find a Rembrandt and a Willem v.d.Velde somewhere in the city centre. One for monday murals here.
Love it!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAn art gallery along the street.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMaybe the Old Masters would be pleased to see copies of their work reach the masses...because maybe some of the masses will then want to see the originals. ;)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNow you're talking. We need more murals like this.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA good way to bring art alive for the younger generations. Really well done!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDit is mooi gedaan!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt is quite a good idea. I like this one.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt looks like a pic for the 'classics.'
The details are very nice, SC.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell if someone didn't like this mural, they can go next door for some good ice cream too :)
Have a Great Week!!
Peace :)
You said exactly what I thought. The brighter note is that not everyone has been exposed to Hals, so this is great advertising. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis mural is the most beautiful I ever seen.
