Looks like the perfect excuse to go for a walk on the beach. Perhaps there are a few good finds amid all the junk his metal detector finds. At least he removes sharp metal bits from the beach.
We see these people occasionally in the US. Also on our annual trips to Costa Rica, which I guess has the only beach we see regularly. The payoffs for this behavior must be low. I wonder what keeps then going.
