In the old fishing town of Harderwijk someone came on the great idea to let the manhole covers of the rainwater drainage resemble old fishing boats. A clear sign that you are in a port town. Once seen one you see them everywhere really. Kudos to the designer. One for sign, signs here.
Here some boats who were model of the manhole cover above in the harbor of Harderwijk. Yes still a lot exist but fishing is now not done anymore from this harbor let alone with this type of boat other then sitting on the dock with a fishing rod.
I would sit there and fish
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe manhole cover is so indigenous.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGREAT idea for manhole covers!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInderdaad mooi zo'n detail.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTerrific manhole covers. . .works of art!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would not have known it was a boat had you not said so, but now I see it. I read recently why most manhole covers are round. So the cover cannot fall down into the hole in any way.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would be checking out that windmill a bit closer too! Lovely capture, what a great day to be out there.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful covers. I've recently returned from Norway - there, too, the manhole covers are a work of art. Such a small detail but makes such a difference to the feel of a town.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOhh yes we like this:))))
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's a neat idea for a manhole.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful harbor and now with plasma cutters you can do interesting metal work. Tom The Backroads Traveller
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA great sign to let you know where you are!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA great idea.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMy SIGNS, SIGNS
Such a grand idea for a manhole. Usually manholes are low on the list of designer features.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a great idea! I love little creative touches like this.
