Looks like this houseboat has a long history. To answer your question of the window shot it was a bus.
That canal boat could use maintenance, a good scrubbing and some fresh paint. Perhaps the owners can't afford the paint, or don't know how to do the work. They are not tied up at a very secure place.
Still floating, good for them.
