18 tall ships and hundreds of smaller vessels took part in this maritime spectacle. It was very busy both on the water and on land, and although every boat was open to visitors, the long queues at the entrances put me off. For example, I saw a considerable number of heavy lifeboats moored at the quay and thought that you really shouldn't break down off the coast with so many absent.
How wonderful to be able to see that many tall ships. The one in the background of your photo looks terrific. There was a sizable crowd to see all the action.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenthe lifeboats thing does sound pretty concerning..... bit scary to be out there if you knew where all the lifeboats were that day!!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat would have been exciting to see even if you didn't line up.
BeantwoordenVerwijdereni like the ship, would be fun exploring it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat an impressive gathering of vessels. I can understand the draw of long queues, but seeing so many lifeboats ready at the quay adds a reassuring layer of safety. The scale of the event must have been remarkable both visually and atmospherically.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is a large collection of them to view
