Mill

Grain mill "'t Slot" in Gouda build in 1832 on the fundaments of castle Gouda at the shore of the river IJssel.
View from the deck on the river IJssel
Little workshop downstairs to keep the mill turning. Yes it still works and was turning when I was visiting.

  1. Bijzonder dat het op de fundamenten van een kasteel gebouwd is.

  2. Reminds me of my first major school project in a British grammar school--to build a model windmill.

  3. A nice view from the deck. I like the old workshop, the person who works there knows where everything is.

  4. I've seen these in Europe, of course, and there are a few in the US. The blades look like an open lattice, though, and I've never quite understood how the wind propelled them.

    1. The milner close the lattice with sail. How much and where depends on the wind Bob.
