Storm on the Zuiderzee near Medemblik

A painting by Petrus Johannes Schotel from 1840 found at Teylers museum. He was known for his maritime scenes. One for Skywatch Friday here.

  4. Great painting. Never seen Zuiderzee in a storm before, guess it can be quite rough!

  6. A bit hyper-real but dramatic. The Dutch have been great sailors for centuries but I'm happy to leave that work to others.
