The Lazarus gate.

A mural from the time that labor still costs nothing. Made by Gregorius Cool from sandstone it shows  the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Always a fine reminder in the netherlands when you pass this gate in Gouda. One for monday murals here.

  5. Same year Henry Hudson explored the Delaware Bay and Hudson River here in the "New World". :-)

    1. You still can find a plaquette on the schreiers tower in amsterdam that in 1609 Henry Hudson departed from that point in amsterdam on his expedition to America.
