Sightseeing amsterdam

One of the nicest parts of town and also one of the oldest, rarely seen by tourists because it lies in the middle of the red light district. Thanks to this fact it is never changed much in time. Name the kolkje or lock. One for weekend reflections here.

  4. Looks like a set of French doors to the right. One can step out right into the water?

  9. Beautiful and so exotic to me, and intrigued that such a nice area is close to the red light district.

  10. We should try to find this when we come by next year. One of my strongest memories of Amsterdam is walking through the red light district with all its tawdriness on a Sunday morning while the music of the organ blasted out of the Old Church. What a contrast.

  12. A city in my heart (next after Amersfoort, my fathers birthplace). Great Amsterdam shot (I scrolled down and found many). Love the canals and bridges, and of course the old brick houses. So different from the wooden houses here in Drammen where I live :)

  13. For some strange reason I would never have guessed the Red Light District would look that well kept. It's very attractive.
