Wijdstraat in Gouda, paving stones

Here lies the 'Gouda runner' in the streets. The names in the bricks referring to various products sold in the last century in this street. Some words are aware noted in the old spelling. Obviously pottery and pipes were also sold. In an attempt to make the old shopping centers of the cities more attractive for shoppers this concept was thought out by public works of Gouda perhaps remembering the ads in the pavement of the old roman cities like Pompei. One for sign, signs here.

  5. Very unique, SC! I have seen some sidewalks with paved stones with names of Artists in St. Louis, Missouri. I am reminded of that.

  6. That's a beautiful photograph. I doesn't need the shoes. All we know about Gouda on this side of the Atlantic is cheese.
