I am a bit ashamed that I have never visited the Maurits House in the Hague until last wednesday. A former town palace of count Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen build between 1633 and 1644. In 1685 it became a hotel for distinguished guests of the state. Since 1822 it is a museum, then still called the Royal Cabinet and it started with 200 paintings given by king William the first.
One of the most well known paintings of the collection. The girl with the pearl earring from Johannes Vermeer
Another one from a for me totally unknow artist Clara Peeters from 1615. Then I haven't spoken about the lot of Rembrandt's or the "Frick" collection they are showing now.
Magnificent. The girl with the pearl earring painting is one I am familiar with too.
