Dutch architecture

If it isn't your hometown and you haven't seen it for a year of so its amazing how much new buildings have appeared in rotterdam. Here 75 apartments + 800 m² commercial space from Groosman partners on the Hilledijk called the Zuiderster.
The entrance of the new central station. The whole project is a combined design from Benthem - Crouwel architects, Meyer & v. Schooten and landscape designer West 8. Started in 2004 it is now near completion.
From behind the car window passing by. The Kuifje (Tin Tin) apartment building in New Crooswijk from NL Architects. Yes for modern architecture Rotterdam is the place to be.

  1. That sure is a variety in buildings. I like the look of the station. I seems to be yelling out come inside for a look.

  2. Well, they're different looking. But the bottom line is how people enjoy these spaces over time.

  6. Great stuff! The train station reminds me of an upside down Nike logo.

  7. As with all architecture; the real test is 'time'. How will these buildings look in a few decades? Will they look become loved classics? or unwanted elephants? I personally really like all three of these. The station is the most impressive in pure scale and statement. Although the first one is also very appealing, with it's simple idea of crooked windows.
