Mural

This gigantic photo on the wall and the ceiling seen from one of the apartments that forms the surrounding of the new market hall in Rotterdam. Designed by architects MVRDV it will be opened 1 october. For an outside shot of the hall look at biebkriebels posting of yesterday. I must admit that I am a bit jealous on Rotterdam. They do the things that in Amsterdam never leaves the talking table.

The view on the other side of the apartment. Still decorating the terrain for the big opening.

  2. That is a glorious looking mural. Also the city around it looks very vibrant and I am so happy about it. In my Liberation of Paris series I showed a photo of Rotterdam (in my part 3) after the Nazi General Commander of Paris, von Choltitz, left it after the bombardment in WW2 – it was in ruins. I’d love to visit it now.

  5. There's some amazing imagination and creativity in Holland and then the guts to go out and do it.

  7. If I took that picture my first thought would be, wow, do I have a lens barrel distortion. This is ingenious design.

  8. Wow, this mural is enormous. I like the voids created by the windows. They took a lesson from Magritte, don't you think? I always think of Amsterdam as the most liberal city in the Netherlands. But I guess Rotterdam is where the artistic risk takers are. Who knew? Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
