Stone building

The church of the cloister of Glendalough established in the sixth century by St. Kevin.
And it still stands after so many years.

  1. Gorgeous photos. I especially like the second one, with the expressive sky.
So the roof is stone and stands just based on gravity and the steep pitch? I have to assume they did not use mortar...I can't imagine repointing that!

  3. I like how one tombstone is lending a helping hand to the other. Seeing graveyards in disrepair always bothers me.

  5. After spending time in Ireland, I noticed that the Irish do know how to pile one stone on top of another. Amazing stone building.

  6. Lovely old little building. At times it wonders how they are still standing.

  7. Such ingenuity, it does look rather "grave," though, it it's tone.
