Paint mill

This is the paint mill "de Kat" located at the "Zaanse Schans " on the river de Zaan. Yesterday I showed some visitors from Spain this working Mill.

I am very pleased with the way the movement is captured here.

Here the business part. To move the stones (6000 kg) the wind mill has to make at last 90 tours a min.   the miller told us. After that we went to a distillery were you can taste 18 different old dutch boze and liquors but thats for another time.

  6. What wonderful looking machinery from another era. Great to see it still working. Using wind power seems right at the cutting edge of energy technology.

  8. A fascinating place to visit. I guess it would be a bit noisy while working, but no engine noise.

  9. This is a perfect place for people to visit. So typically Dutch (or at least what I think of as Dutch)!
