Lowest point of the Netherlands

This landmark from Frans de Wit in Alexander polder , part of greater Rotterdam, shows the lowest part of our country. 6.89 m below sea level.

By ingenious stairs you can reach the top to look at the deepest point.

This is it. The same level as outside. In 1996 this point was no longer the lowest due to building activities in the neighbor because for the dutch definition of lowest point you need one ground area flat of one hectare all the way.

And all this because it was the view from a splendid Indonesian restaurant were they served a so called rice table the Sumatra way. It was an idea by the husband of my niece who sometimes works as an ict professor in that regio and had developed a nice taste for this food. I admit it was really delicious and would like to show you how such a meal looks on the table(s).
