New bike shop in town

In Amsterdam we have a new bike shop called shishi, selling japanese coffee , thea, food and new and secondhand bicycles and bicycles parts.

The coffee table with stools from old bicycle parts. And the sitting is perfect.

Some japanese bicycles from the fifties. The japanese owner told me that he imported old dutch bicycles to japan, smartens them up and sells them with nice profits. So now he tries also the other way around.

A japanese bell now on my own bicycle after an incident when the old one broke. I hope that this one will hold a lot longer then the old one.

  1. Hmm. I like my bike, but I'm not sure I would enjoy my cup of tea sitting on my bike seat. On the other hand, it would almost guarantee I wouldn't hog that seat for the rest of the day. :-)

  2. Lucky you. Very different from the bike shops in Canada.

  3. The bicycle seats as chairs is a great idea! I wonder how many bike shops there are in Amsterdam since you folks are such a biking nation?

  4. Love it, looks like a really nice place to just soak in some bike culture. Those stools are totally "rad" (translingual pun). And coffee, nice.

  5. It seems to me that Amsterdam needs a new bicycle shop as much as San Francisco needs another wine bar. Still, this is a good illustration of a novel idea.

Still, Japanese coffee? Europe's is better.
