Standard amsterdam bridge

Bridge No. 281 of the amsterdam list of bridges (named Pepper Bridge) connects the Peperstraat with the new Uilenburgerstraat. It blends so well in the street that you see it almost only when you are on it. On the moment the list contains 2888 bridges and is still growing. If you want to see more bridges you can go to the list and click on the links . Every bridge has at least one photo or go to sunday bridges here.

  2. It does indeed blend well with the street!
«Louis» is amazed at the number of bridges in Amsterdam. Being a World War II history buff, it just occurred to «Louis» that the retreating Nazis probably destroyed many bridges in Amsterdam in the exceptionally bitter fighting that it took to root them from the Netherlands. The Nazi wehrmacht was deadly enough on the attack, but never more so than when in retreat. The Allies paid dearly for every meter of retaken ground.

«Louis» thanks you for linking this fine post with Sunday Bridges.

  3. That's an awful lot of bridges - good that they are numbered and catalogued.
