The house where I was born

Here just after the 2 windows on the right in the middle of the facade I lived from 0 to 12 years in Amsterdam. The house dates from 1883 and had ceilings at a high of 4 m from the floor. I still remember that I played soccer with my brother in the back room because it had a length of perhaps 10 m. ( Of course just in my memories ).

Coming out of the front door you saw this gate. Still there today as an back entrance to the Hortus Botanicus. The garden of amsterdam university. I can't count the times that my brother and I had to climb over that fence to pick up a ball or just for the fun of it. ( Photo above made from the bridge).

  2. My first thought was that it was a wonderful place to live as a youngster with a green park across the way. Sounds great too as you describe it!

  3. That would be fabulous to have those gardens so near. It is a wonder you didn't become a botanist.
