Katagami fence

This fence along the garden of the hermitage museum in amsterdam reminds me strongly on the katagami stencils made in japan mostly during the nineteenth century.

Here a sample I took from the internet. It was made of rice paper, armed with human hair and used to print patterns on the silk kimono's of that time.

Another sample of these stencils in paper. Real stunning to see that today in a 4mm thick steel plate fence.
One for friday fences here.
