Collecting

Twice a year we have a big collecting fair in Utrecht. There you can exchange or buy every conceivable thing you can imagine. I still have a little collection of some slides and calculators as seen above.

and have used them in the early days of my profession. As the black one before the printed sheet on the first photo. It could multiply, divide and making cubic content calculations. Of course there is a lot of other stuff (photo impressions). You name it and it is there.
This year it is held at 12 and 13 April here.

  1. And the nice thing about a lot of this stuff is that it worked with or without batteries--right out of the box! :-)

  2. Now we have all that on a computer, but it probably isn't as much fun. I am always interested in the kinds of things people collect; says a lot about the interest of the collector.

  5. That is really a neat collection. Some look familiar to me as they were picked up second hand at a thrift store by my grandmother and I used to play with them when I was a little guy. Thanks for the memories.

  6. Mechanical calculators are so 20th Century now replaced by electronics. Wonderful collection of machines we thought of as labor saving back in the day.
