In front of the "Rijksmuseum" the pond is frozen for a skating rink. All kids (and their grandparents who have to keep an eye on them because of the school holidays) are very glad with this opportunity . In the museum is a painting from Hendrick Avercamp from 1608 .
What do you think. Not so different despite the more then 400 years time difference.
Grappig om beide te vergelijken. Hoewel er niets gaat boven natuurijs.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIn fact from the thumbnail before opening up your page, I thought it was a painting. Wow, one could loose a kid in all of that. I notice how a wood chair is used to help the little ones learn. Nice.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt just goes to show that some things change and some things remain the same.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a beautiful image. Thank you so much! Have a great 2014!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenClever post! I didn't see this one coming!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI must say that is a more impressive backdrop than we have behind our municipal ice rink (just lots of trees). Wasn't the time of the painting during what is called the Little Ice Age/
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou are completely right Bob.
VerwijderenWish I could be there. Looks like a lot of fun!!!

BeantwoordenVerwijderenA fabulous shot, full of movement and color and life. I love it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis is a brilliant Winter scene and a very fine photo.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful shot! I like the painting too. When I go to museums I always look for this type of Dutch paintings.
