Another example of the water movement in the amsterdam school style here in a fence on the bridge over the amstel canal called the Kramer bridge after its designer Pieter Kramer ( 1881-1961). He was one of the most well known architects of the amsterdam school. From 1911 until 1951 he was also employed by public works of the city of amsterdam and designed in that time more then 220 bridges for the city. (70 from them are in the so called amsterdam forest ).
Another example of the water movement in amsterdam school brickwork . Here a facade on the "vrijheidslaan" designed by Jouke Zietsma. The architects received
only an assignment for the facade . What was behind wasn't paid for.
I love your views amsterdam and also these discoveries you make about architecture. It is very interesting and informative. thank you very much
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe water movement stucture is an interesting sight to see. I've seen it here but never realized what it was.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh, so don't blame us if the building falls down, right! :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove the bridge!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou could post this to the Friday's Fences meme, too!
Have a wonderful week-end!

BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat looking patterns in both fence and brickwork. I need to learn more about the Amsterdam school style. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful railing and great perspective of the building.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like the bridge fence design and the whole idea of trying to capture the feel of water movement. Happy Holidays!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful perspectives! Wishing you a very happy New Year:-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat post. Love the facade. Very interesting work of both architects reflecting the water movement.
BeantwoordenVerwijderen«Louis» has had a long-time interest in architecture. (He considered studying it when he was at University, but didn't pursue it...) Thus, he is enjoying your series on the Water Movement.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe detailing on that fence is quite nice.
This would be a good post to link to Sunday Bridges when it opens at 22h00m central Europe time on Saturday.
Interesting! Love this extra dimension.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice examples, and I like the backdrop for the bridge shot, nicely done.
