Tromsø Bridge

From the Fjellheisen mountain you have a fantastic view over the city of Tromsø and the Tromsø Bridge connecting the city with the mainland. On holiday in 2011 we saw this stunning view.
One for sunday bridges here .

  4. «Louis» forgot to answer your question about the age of the bridge he featured in his Sunday Bridges post. He doesn't know the exact age, but he estimates that the bridge is at least 60 years old, perhaps 70 or so... U.S. Highway 101 is one of the first major highways built on the U.S. west coast. It begins at the border of Mexico in California and runs north all the way to the Canadian border. A Canadian version of it extends to Vancouver. In California, much of it follows the old "Royal Road", El Camino Real, established by Spanish Catholic missionaries when they built the chain of churches beginning at San Diego on the Mexican border and extending north to Sonoma in the wine country. Much of 101 was built in the 1930s, but has been rebuilt and expanded over the years. In most places, the road is 4 lanes wide and in many places, it is 6 lanes wide. But in places such as where «Louis» took the photo of this old bridge in the "redwood country" of northern California, the road is still only 2 lanes wide. Ancient redwood trees, many over 300 feet in height, come right to the edge of the road in many stretches of 101 in this part of California. The only way to expand the road would be to tear out the trees - an idea that has zero support among the public! With all of that as background information, «Louis» agrees with you that the bridge in his photo is not new.
