Walk in the park

Tuesday it was such nice weather that Bieb and I decided for a walk through the Vondelpark. The central park of Amsterdam. We had already made a big walk in the streets of Amsterdam so a refreshment was very welcome.

The Blue Thea House somewhere in the middle of the park is very famous and always crowed with people. We were warned for the waiting times before being helped but in the holiday season you have to order and take your refreshments from the Bar. No fuzz at all. The building itself dates from 1937, build in the so named dutch engineer style by arch. H. Baanders and the terraces can contain 700 visitor's.

Yes it was a very pleasant visit. At home I discovered a big blister on my right foot. Perhaps the walk was a bit to long in not appropriated shoes for this hot weather.

  1. ha, there is a pigeon in the last photo, looking on.
I'm surprised by the terraces carrying so many people. Where are the columns? I don't think there are enough!!

    1. The dutch engineer style took the most out of the constructions with concrete or steel profiles. Overhangs with a thickness of 10 cm and 3 m where normal. A bit like a Frank Lloyd Wright construction. He must have influenced them. The columns were also very thin in thickness and with the modern rules of calculation for safety not possible anymore.

  2. Great with the violin players. I had coffee with one two day ago she said she was going to play a song but in the end never did that.

    1. They were rehearsing a classic melody over and over again but I had the impression that they had to practice some more. Are you in Amsterdam then?

  3. Also love that last one with the pigeon - pesky little things, aren't they?

    1. Yes Micheal
I agree with you. Sometimes you have really to protect your food or it flies carried by a lot of opportunists away.

  4. Ah tunes in the park - seems a fine way to spend an afternoon. I shall imagine they're better than your reply to Stephan suggests. Long live this great weather.

  5. I like the dueling fiddles foto but the pigeon considering doing some nasty act upon the little lady and her beer is great. Looks like he already got the glass earlier on.
