Sometimes rich merchants in amsterdam had their house at one side of the canal and their storehouse at the other side. To impatient to walk 50 m to the right or left they let build a bridge for their own to cross straight over. Of this is the case with this one I don't know but it fulfills all characterizations of such a bridge. One for sunday bridges here.
Hi and thank you for your comment on my MINOX picture today. Yes, it does have a small sensor, but sometimes I kind of like the old-fashioned photos it does. I'll be posting more.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI've added your blog to my list. I've browsed your photos and especially like the 1900 railroad compartment....
An interesting history, even if it doesn't necessarily apply to this particular bridge. In any case, it is a welcome contribution to Sunday Bridges.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI didn't know they lived and worked so close.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery interesting and this is a pretty bridge as well as useful.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA convenience used by many others over time no doubt.
