Do something you didn't do when you were alive.

You have never flown in your live but still want to do it then lets do it in a coffin like an airplane. Some tribes in Africa like the Teshi in Ghana have a habit to bury themselves in their greatest wish like a Mercedes Benz, a cigaret, a fish or whatever you desire. A habit in early days just for chiefs is now a complete industry.

Here another example of the many possibilities as seen in an exhibition a few weeks ago in the Amsterdam Tropical Institute.

Here a movie from National Geographic about the makers of these coffins.

I dedicate this post to taphophile tragics although there is no tragic here I guess.

  3. Fantasy coffins! What a hoot! They do not seem, to me at any rate, to be very culturally genuine. Well, not the mercedes and the aeroplane. And he only makes 100 per year, but I guess that is 2 per week. Still, not a massive income.

  6. I wouldn't want to bury something so rare and unusual!

  7. Wow, the whole funeral industry, with emphasis on the word industry, is a little discomforting, apparently everywhere. I saw an image a while back of a kid embalmed in a pose sitting on his prized motorcycle - which was to be buried along with him. These must cost quite a bit...
