This landmark of american architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright , build between 1936 and 1939 may not be missing in a post about water. The house in the neighborhood of Pittsburg, stretches out over a 30' waterfall and is called house of Fallingwater. 5. I'd like to visit more Wright buildings. I've been to Hollyhock in LA and Robe House in Chicago and the Guggenheim in NYC but that's about it.

  6. Nice shot, and I've always been captivated by this house, the idea of it and the execution, it seems almost outrageous, like a violation of nature somehow...and yet it's stunning.

  7. I read somewhere that Fallingwater was having problems with stability. True?

Yes it is true that there is a problem with the structure of the stretch and there are plans to support the concrete with new steel inside but how and when I don't know.

I made a trip once along the most houses, Taliesin and the Jonson wax factory near Chicago. I can absolute recommend it to everyone who is in the neighbour. Also the churches, the synagog and of course the Guggenheim museum in New York are splendid.

  9. love it! You know, I have yet to visit this building. Some friends have been threatening to visit it forever.

Wright is just about every architect's favorite architect, isn't he? or at least, he is the favorite of every beginning architect. I've only visited a couple of his buildings, notably the Robie House.

  11. I recognized this house right away because I hoped to see it when I drove from Pennsylvania to California last May. I didn't see it but I wish I did. :)
